Sony digital cameras are made with high-quality lenses, using Carl Zeiss lenses for their Cyber-shot line of cameras. The lens manufacturer holds a high reputation for quality optical lenses, which Sony makes great use of. The latest in the line of Sony digital cameras, the Cyber-shot like the older DSC-T100 uses lenses that have up to 5x optical zoom, which makes this compact camera great for both casual use with friends and family and bigger shots of landscapes.

Nikon Digital Cameras – Views From Viewers.
Bigger Isn’t Always Better
While digital SLR cameras are quite impressive and take beautiful pictures, they aren’t always the best digital cameras if you’re just looking to take casual pictures. If you just need something to take pictures for vacations or simple family gatherings, then you don’t need a huge camera. Smaller digital cameras can still take great pictures and are much more portable and easy to use, so don’t overlook the small cameras. Checkout the Nikon Coolpix!
First off let me say I really like my Nikon coolpix. But when I was buying the Nikon Coolpix L20 camera as a gift and the leather case was advertised as a companion item. I naturally assumed the camera would actually fit in the case. It did not. The case itself is very nice and I will find other uses for it but felt I was mislead on this purchase.
Nikon Coolpix L20
10.0-megapixel resolution for photo-quality prints up to 16 x 20 inches; 3.6x optical Zoom-Nikkor glass lens; 3.0-inch high-resolution LCD screen; Nikon’s Smart Portrait System; Red-eye Fix, Face Priority AE and more; Capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards (not included)….
Nikon D5000
The Nikon D5000 digital SLR is intended to be a alternative to the impressive D90 SLR. The D5000 carries many of that camera’s features, including a 12.3-megapixel DX-format sensor and HD movie mode. The D5000 is capable of filming clips in 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. It also has a larger 2.7-inch variable angle LCD display. Nikon has the entry-level SLR down to a science, and the D5000 is an excellent choice for beginners looking to take their photography to the next level.
Nikon L100
10.0-megapixel resolution for photo-quality prints up to 16 x 20 inches; 15x optical wide-angle (28-420mm) Zoom-Nikkor glass lens; 3.0-inch LCD and Electronic Viewfinder; 4-way VR image stabilization; Nikon’s Smart Portrait System; Red-eye Fix, Face Priority AE and more; Capture images to SD/SDHC memory cards (not included)

Toshiba Digital Camera – Not Recommended – Discontunued
I have owned this camera for 2 years now and it finally bit the dust.
I still think it holds the title for best bang for the buck in the 3-megapixel range. I really enjoyed all of the manual features and fine-tuning capabilities. The remote control is a great feature for group photos. The long exposure times can generate some very interesting night shots. In short, I don’t have any complaints about the features of the camera.
Last weekend the camera died. I got just over 2 years and 2000 pictures out of it. I researched the failure to see if there was a known fix out there on the Internet. No such luck.
I did discover that there seems to be some serious reliability issues with this particular model. I found 1 good piece of advice to find out how reliable a camera is: check the completed auctions on your favorite auction website and see what percentage of the cameras being sold are non-functional or are manufacturer reconditioned units. If found about 60% of the 65 units sold were dead or rebuilt PDR-3300’s. I checked the Canon A70 for comparison – only about 7% of the 320 units sold were dead or rebuilt.
My recommendation would be to either purchase an extended warranty or just don’t expect a lot of life out of the camera. It sounds like I did pretty well with a 2 year run. I’ll miss this camera, but won’t buy another Toshiba.

Samsung has produced Digital SLR, Digimax, Digimax Slim and NV Series types of digital cameras which are quite in vogue in today’s times.
Digital SLR (Advanced Series) of Samsung digital cameras offers features and capabilities which are more significant for professional use. Specially designed for professionals, its user-friendliness is retained and hence makes a very popular series of cameras. This range of cameras has features like a 2.5” large and bright TFT LCD screen, continuous shooting of 2-3 shots per second and outstanding image and color reproduction. It provides 96% accurate and sharp results in low light or even in the dark. Its GX-10 model has 10.2 M image sensor, which ensures that shakes or blurs have no impact on the picture. Also dust is removed from the image sensor which enables quality dust free pictures. The body of the camera is sealed in such a way that it makes it water resistant and dust proof.
Samsung TL100
If you’re you’re interested in a ultra-portable camera, simple, straightforward point-and-shoot camera, the Samsung TL100 will definitely make your list of possibilities based solely on its size. The brushed stainless steel body of this lightweight camera is just 16.6 mm thick, not counting the lens. In a world of advanced technology, it takes a lot to surprise me nowadays, but the tiny size of this camera was still enough to startle. The back of the camera is loaded with a huge 2.7-inch LCD, plus a smattering of buttons, including the four-way rocker button that controls flash, timer, Macro, and Display settings. So far, so good, although the second thing I noticed, after the small size of the camera, was the small size of those buttons. This isn’t a camera meant for people with large or uncoordinated fingers.
This camera has 12.2 megapixels and a 3x optical zoom. I wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of image quality and operation, having never handled a Samsung before, but for the most part, these are nice photos. The camera does offer up to 3200 ISO for low light conditions, and this is perhaps where the limitations of the processor show up most: compared to a recent Canon I tested, which handled 3200 smooth like butter, this camera dissolved in a fever of noise, producing an image that almost looked like a movie still, with harsh, unrealistic outlines and odd lighting. It’s a pretty cool effect, actually, but it’s far from realistic.
If you are looking for a one-touch camera, there aren’t a lot of buttons on the TL100. There isn’t much you can do with the camera simply by pushing a button. In fact, I thought at first that maybe this model just didn’t offer any advanced settings. The top contains just the zoom control and the Smart Auto button. Smart Auto operates much like Auto itself, except it’s designed for totally novice users: it disables advanced functions and automatically selects the proper scene mode for the environment. Putting this control on top of the camera is a great idea, but where were all the Scene modes themselves, or the flash, white balance, and metering adjustments that the manual claimed were available?
The Samsung Sl102 is a Consumer Reports recommended subcompact digital camera. Cost is around $135.00.

HP digital cameras are available in varied mega pixel resolutions and varied zoom options. They incorporate small to spacious displays, automatic removal of the red-eye effect each time a snap is shot and features such as anti shake. They have a 16 MB built in memory and expandable memory card slots. HP Photosmart R927 and R967 have been rated 4.7 and 4.6 out of five respectively. HP digital cameras also incorporate self timers, burst modes, video and normal shooting modes etc. HP digital cameras have approximately 20 picture modes. Secure digital memory is provided with almost all HP camera models. HP Photosmart R967 is a powerful camera with 10 MP camera and a 3x optical zoom and a 3” display with a wide viewing angle.
I used an HP digital camera for a good number of years primarily taking photos for Ebay listings. Worked well and I never had a minutes worth of trouble. I wore out the little door where the mem card went so I retired it.
I haven’t checked but I don’t think HP makes cameras any longer. But there should be a good number of used ones for sale on on Ebay.
