Bought for wife who teaches at pre-school and takes lots of indoor individual and group photos. She wanted something small enough to carry in purse and basically point and shoot. So far camera has fit the bill and her photos look great. I have experimented with Macro and that does very well too. Only concern is that battery/memory card door and latch seem very flimsy and is easy to open accidently.

I bought a Lumix to my mother 2 years ago and it has been a very good camera since then. Now I wanted a camera for my own, and I bought this one after some market research. It does what I need; my only regret is that it takes its time to take the picture. I think Sony has faster shooting comparing with a friend camera last weekend trip.

In spite of it, battery lifetime and performance is very good. The new night scenery takes a lot less time (1s shoot). It has more resolution/size options than before. A new power saving mode. Cool enough for a non-professional use.

I just took this camera to Alaska for a 2 week vacation and it took great pictures. Was very easy to use. I loved the Intelligent Auto because all my pictures came out perfect with that setting. The video was great and easy to use. There is an IA (intelligent Auto) button on top which you can touch and it can switch between picture or motion picture.
I highly recommend for anyone who doesn't want high tech. Great battery longevity also.

This is my second Panasonic camera and it is the best yet. Just point and shoot from distance shots to close ups. The autofocus is simply the best I have seen.

I have had my Pannie for a few months now. And while I never write reviews for my purchases, I thought I might give it a spin here, simply because I want to share my overall euthusiam ***** for the Panasonic DMC-TZ5S. While I am far from being a professional photograher, I love the fact that my camera gives me multitudes of creative options, as well as control. I am continously playing around with different modes, light meter levels, settings, and many other aspects. Here is the bottom line: if you are in the market for a simple point and shoot camera with much ease of use, and relativly little turning of buttons, or tinkering with set-up options--- this is probably not the best camera choice for you. If on the other hand, you seek a camera with some play room, and want to have a little more control, this is a very sweet little ( not teeny) camera. By the way, I think the indoors pics are wonderful, for those of you who might have concerns about the quality of the Pannies indoor picture taking abilities....no worries in that department, at least not in my experience.
It does take time, in my case at any rate, to read throughout the well laid out instruction booklet that comes with the camera. But trust me, it does! makes all the difference in the world for a novice such as myself. But viola, I am taking amazing pictues, and all with a little point and shoot, and having a lot of enjoyment with the results---very pleased indeed. In fact, I can say that this was exactly what I was hoping for and I am very pleased with this purchase.
It does feel very nicely constucted, and great in my hand, nothing toy-like there. I have found it easy to operate, just need to read through the booklet and all the operations and varoius options will make perfect sense. Enjoy!

I was looking for a replacement to my very old Canon Powershot A80 point and shoot. After much research I decided on this one and absolutely love it. I haven't played around with the settings but the pictures are high quality and I love that I can just put the camera in my pocket and go. Definitely recommend!

I love a lot of the macro features .... sunset, beach, and burst mode are excellent. The camera takes really nice pictures ... color, clarity are excellent. The focus works very well for a point and shoot and it processes a picture very quickly so you are ready to shoot again in no time. Even low-light (the bane of digital cameras) pics are pretty good. I was even very happily surprised by the battery life. I got mine for about $200 and I love it .... buy the extra battery. For $14, it is well worth it.
